What is Osteoarthritis of the Hip?
Osteoarthritis of the hip is a degenerative joint disease in which the protective cartilage that cushions the ends of the bones wears down over time. This leads to joint pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. It most commonly affects older adults but can also result from previous injury or joint abnormalities. Symptoms often worsen with activity and improve with rest. Treatment includes exercise therapy, weight management, medications, and in advanced cases, hip replacement surgery.
