What is Osteoarthritis of the Knee?
Osteoarthritis of the knee is a degenerative joint disease where the protective cartilage in the knee gradually wears away. This results in pain, swelling, stiffness, and reduced mobility, often worsening with activity and improving with rest. It is most common in older adults but may also result from previous injury, obesity, or joint deformity. Treatment options include weight management, physiotherapy, pain relief, injections, or knee replacement surgery in advanced cases.
